ARRISUENO'S REALISM AND DALI'S SURREALISM

Some of the late Salvador Dali's works will be exhibited alongside those of Dee Why realist painter Ernesto Arrisueno in March at Wagner Art Gallery, Paddington.

The Dali works are two collections of original hand-tinted etchings called After 50 Years of Surrealism, completed in 1974; and The Twelve Tribes of Israel, done in 1973 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Israel. Arrisueno, who came to Australia four years ago from Peru, will exhibit a series of works, many featuring boats- a favorite theme because they reflected tranquility.

Arrisueno has held exhibitions in Italy, Tokyo and America. A spokeswoman said: "He has developed his creative ability towards this technique, meticulously detailing his subjects in a realistic controlled expression."

Arrisueno said he was "a dreamer, and this is a hard world for dreamers."

The exhibition is from March 2 to 27.
